Reconnaissance System

The SABER

The SABER (Spherical Autonomous Balancing Electronic Robot) is the cutting edge in robotic reconnaissance.
The initial prototype of the SABER will be a 2-wheeled balancing robot equipped with a video camera; a directional microphone and an ambient microphone; an 8-directional compass; various sensors such as gas, flame, and heat detectors; IR lighting for covert operation in low-light/no-light conditions; and visible white lighting for overt operation in low-light/no-light conditions.
It will be capable of sending all the information gathered by the sensors to, as well as being controlled from, a standalone remote control unit called a TEWTH. The SABER is designed to withstand harsh use and rugged conditions, as at home being thrown through a window or being lobbed over a wall as being gently rolled through a doorway.
Future features for the SABER include automous functionality, GPS capability, and primary brain in a cluster-based robot swarm.

The TEWTH

The TEWTH (Telemetric Electronic Wireless Tactical Handheld) works in conjunction with the SABER to form the SABER/TEWTH reconnaissance system.
The TEWTH is capable of receiving audio and video transmissions from the SABER unit while transmitting control information to it. All information from the SABER's sensors are overlaid onto the video for ease-of-use. The audio sent from the SABER are played over the TEWTH's internal speakers.
The TEWTH has a 360° analog joystick for precision driving; a tilt stick to control the camera viewing angle; LEDs to monitor TEWTH battery life and transmission; and as buttons to toggle IR lights, white lights, and text overlay.
Future features for the TEWTH include touch-screen capability and USB integration with a computer for TEWTH-based autonomous control of the SABER.
